Although my husband has been a T2 diabetic for the past two decades, this e-book has taught me several new things. This book is a must for diabetics and their partners; indeed it would be useful for general readers too as a quick reference book.

A wonderful book! My wife is no longer scared of my hypos, and she helps me control my blood-sugars far better than before we got the book. Thank you for saving my life!

On the Diabetic Partner website, I will periodically be showing the results of my continuing research into the ways that people with diabetes can benefit from new, and carefully selected, products on the market.

The first addresses a question that all people with diabetes, and especially Type 1s, need to come to terms with: How do I let people know that I'm diabetic (and not drunk, or on drugs) when I have a hypo in public? One answer is to wear a special bracelet, with all your medical information on it. A firm called SOS Talisman provides probably the best:

An extract from the e-book

Lifestyle and diet
Lack of exercise, and eating fatty or highly processed foods seem to lead to diabetes in a significant number of people - though not all. But it is clear that the leap in the numbers of T2s world-wide (135 million in 2004, projected to rise to 240 million in 2010, and 350 million in 2025) is largely attributable to lifestyle changes.

It is also visibly linked with the growth in obesity.

When a T2 diabetic who is obese returns to a normal weight, the effects of the diabetes are virtually eliminated. They may not be technically "cured", but they will have removed most of the risk-factors associated with diabetes when it is out of control. This is particularly striking in the over-sixties.
